General Manager Val Spicer Designs

When Val and Jay were having talks to purchase the phenolic foam business, Martin was approached to join the family firm. Martin was attracted to this change of direction From IT into an unusual venture. Martin and his wife Amanda were excited by the opportunity to return to live in Devon which they had missed so much. The post of General Manager was a challenge to test his organisational and purchasing skills, to source new suppliers, new raw material and tackle the maze of new regulations which manufacturers and employers have to cope with. To work with his brother in developing new lines has proved to be a very successful and ongoing relationship.

Martin lives in Tavistock with his family not too far from the factory but really close to the golf club!

Jay Spicer

Sales Manager with special responsibility for the production of phenolic foam (FLORAFOAM)

Today Jay continues his role as sales manager and overseeing the manufacture of florafoam. With his brother Martin, Jay continues to improve the existing products and to introduce many new lines.

Jay also lives in the Tavistock area with his family including a new addition Tehya now aged 18 months.

Val Spicer

Val Spicer is the founder member of the Val Spicer Designs Partnership which was started in 1981.

Her role today is part time and more of a consultancy to assist, advise and give support if needed by the partners, staff and customers.
